awesome punjabi food in town

"Punjab da Swad"at inorbit mall....A fresh wave of punjabi cuisine in hyderabad.
A small and selected menu to offer and doesnt jumble up with too many items as most of the so called "pathetic punjabi joints" in the city do.A handful of ex-novotel guys with this very small vending machine sized stall on thetop floor of inorbit mall has opened up a whole new venture to treat the food lovers of the city.
The chicken preparation is fresh and doesnt have any resemblence to any of those typical punjabi-hyderabadi taste....entirely different.Dal makhni is awesome and i wont hesitate to go to the extent of branding it as
the best dal makhni i have ever had.Very reasonably priced. We had the  "singh is kingh" platter which has one lachha paratha, portions of kebab, rice, chicken (dont remember the name) and dal makhni. Another item which we had is the geela kulcha chola. The kulcha is torn in pieces and quite a good portion of chola masala was spread on top of it.Though i could see that a few of the customers dont like it that way,but to me it was pretty intersting. You can customise your platter as wel.
Though they dont have the full chicken tandoori or rotis coming straight out from the robust tandoor, that we are usually accustomed to see in a pujabi joint...but whatever they are offering , is at par with that filthy costly and so called best pujabi restaurant at road no.12 banjra hills. On the contrary i would refer "punjab da swad" one more step ahead..sasta,sundar,swadisht.

Best chinese in the twin cities

My first experience with chinese food was on a road side bandi (pull cart shop) on Rajbhavan road in the year 2000.Kadi patta in noodles!!! how horrible it can be.First experience with chicken 65 was pretty good though. Then for almost 4 yrs in bangalore is definitely a nightmare for a food freek.
Again in 2004 back to hyderabad, but never had a good chinese food(can't afford 5 star hotels).Quite surprisingly many of the waiters in chinese joints till today even dont know what momo is.Though originated in Tibet, but it is very famous with all chinese joints in kolkata.

Heard a lot about "Nanking".Seemed to be one of the city's culinary landmarks. With due respect to the sentiments of thousands of chinese foodlovers and loyal nanking customers in the twin cities, I must admit...its pretty bad!! Probably, the day when we had been to nan king, the cook must have been drunked and dopped. For all these years i have been to innumerable chinese joints all over the city. Some with an excellent ambience, some with good service and fancy interiors, chopstick eating and so on,but none with satisfactory food. The Chinese Room at banjara hills opposite to brand factory was just ok type.
Heard of Mainland China long before, but never gave it a try, porbably for the cost factor, till a few months back.I must admit, this "is" the best of all.Definitely the best chinese out of kolkata.Pricing is high, but for the taste, it is worth every penny. Not suggested for spicy eaters.Try chopstick eating only if u r perfectly used to,bocz it makes not point to mess up with a superb meal at mainland china just for the fancy of having with those tools.Mainland China...... a refreshing breeze in the chinese cuisine of this city.

Pathetic hyderabadi cuisine

"Hyderabadi biryani"....good ,bad or even worst....but its the only thing that u get in every nook and corner of the city.Any other food is quite horrible.I am refering to those places where it would cost till Rs.500 for 2 people, not any star hotels.U take the chicken butter masala...it would taste exactly the same as the kadai paneer, trust me.The only difference is the chkn and the panner.Gravy is the same. The word "spicy" has a different meanig in this city of nizams. It simply means a  lot of chilly powder. Most of the places serve pathetic biryanis....dry rice and hard chicken pieces , no matter whether its the most famous of the biryani joints or any roadside cafe.People here mostly go by the quantity. And only god knows how can somebody eat a pathetic sweet dish like khubani ka meetha.I dont know, but i feel there is a general concept here that if u put all the good and costly items together and cook ,then the final product also has to be a good one.Like the dry fruit laddu and the kajoo-anjeer cutlet. These are perhaps a few of the most horrible sweets that i have ever had in my life. The choice is so few.For breakfast u are left with the same pale idly,vadas,dosa.....its the same rice item, but in different forms. For evening u are left out with a few handful of "bajjis" and pakodas. Now,many of u might not agree with me.U may say "go .....and u get the best biryani,go ....and u get the best kebabs.Hyderabadi food has this and that and so on".....but how often do u find them in normal joints???  Should i run all over the city to have a good non-veg meal? i hope not.

tex-mex

some 6-7months back i had a very bad experience with mexican food ,when for the first time i was introduced to "burrito".it was indeed one of my bad experiences. And the nachos?our mad angles are definitely better than them.long time back forgottn stroy.
came this 23rd and it was our anniversary. In the evening we went out in the spree for something new, something different and landed up at Chilis at inorbit mall. This joint has been there for quite sometime but we never gave it a try.Good interiors(may not b the best) and reminded me of the TGI Friday at Bangalore.Food is totally awesome.Though we didn't try the fagitas, which they claim to be their signature dish.....Was scared since it looked something like the burritos.
Chicken pasta was superb. They serve beef too.The dip with chicken wings was great.Since both of us were suffering from severe cough 'n cold,so couldnt try out their cold beverages. They seemed quite lucritive.
Pricing is a bit on a higher range, but try to be there with a couple of friends...it will come less.
Oh yes, just a cautionary note: bottled water is Rs.75!!!!

I would give them a sharp 8 out of 10 for the decor. This is definitely that "something different place" that i would love to go.

horrible food at sattva

feel to slap and kick that rajasthani joint called "sattva" near DLF building at gachibowli. What they serve is not food but crap...total crap.It was pertty disappointing for me and deepak. One thing which i realised being there is most are first timers....thats good ,bcoz for a shitty place like "sattva" its better to be the first and the last time in your life.
